TOUCHING PARADISE is an erotic paranormal romance of 41,000 words.

Despite his billions in the bank, Koenraad is a shark shapeshifter haunted by secrets and regrets. Unable to move on with his life, he relentlessly patrols the waters near the island he once considered home. Fate puts the beautiful Monroe in his path, and duty demands he offer his services, but one look into her eyes and he knows the lonely, frightened woman secretly yearns for adventure.

Monroe is having a hard time getting into the vacation spirit. She’s surrounded by powdery white sand and swaying palm trees, but she’s terrified of the ocean. When her tour boat breaks down at sea, she’s thrilled to skip the so-called trip of a lifetime. However, a gorgeous man with a sleek yacht is determined to change her mind… and maybe her life.

Contains explicit sexual content and graphic language that may be objectionable to some readers. Includes sexual dominance and submission and very mild BDSM elements. For adults only.

This is not a novel. It's barely a novella. There's no completed story arc once the beginning and conflict is set up; the story is lacking a proper climax (well, there are climaxes, but of a different sort; more on that later). The story began, set up a mystery, then set up another mystery, began to explore them, then the book ended with no clear resolution. Even if you set up an over-arcing storyline to a series of books, in each individual book there's always a smaller mystery that gets explored and resolved by the end of each book. That didn't happen here. The book didn't end on a cliffhanger, the book ended on action which should've been picked up in the next chapter. On the next page. At least one of the mysteries Peitsche set up in her story should've been resolved, possibly the one about Koenraad's son, something that could've been done in about four more chapters to judge by her pacing.

The overall story idea is interesting, the sex scenes... okay, they were hot. And probably the most well-done parts of the story; how Koenraad responds to women in general and Monroe in particular, the way they made love, the way Koenraad feels the need to bite Monroe during sex (which mimics exactly the mating habits of sharks, especially Great Whites), and even the details of his, um, dingle-dangle, they were all extremely creative. Not to mention the writing itself - the technique, grammar, spelling, dialogue - was pretty good. It's a shame that kind of creativity was let down by a lackluster plot and poor story planning.

As far as reading the second "novel" I sincerely doubt I will. Frankly, the only reason I picked up this title was because it was free. If I'd paid money for what I'd received, I'd have been mightily ticked off. And while it was fun to read the sex scenes, I'm not invested enough in any of the characters to discover what happens to them in the following "novels."

Touching Paradise The Shark Shifter Paranormal Romance Book 1 edition by Cleo Peitsche Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I clicked on this book after it was linked in a shark group and was thinking wtf, I need to check out this ridiculous book and I wound up really enjoying it. If you are into erotic romance this book is for you. It's well written, the dialogue is realistic, the sex scenes are great. I've never read a shape shifter series and although the animal thing does come off as strange its actually just really interesting once you start reading about it. There's an engaging background mystery going on as well as the romance plot but unfortunately we don't get to far in in this teaser. The author seems to have done their research.
This book almost warrants a 4 star because it's not a completed book, but it was free and also well written. I would prefer to purchase this 'series' as a one whole book.
Thank goodness this was free on , or I’d be super mad. I pulled it to the top of my TBR list because I’ve only read one shark shifter novella before & was curious in spite of my phobias of sharks & oceans. This wasn’t badly written for the work itself, & actually held my attention. But the ending was like the author chopped off 3-4 chapters from the book & called it good -for a cliff hanger ending! The art of good cliff hanger ending is getting the reader invested into what’s going to happen to the characters next, not stopping randomly. This just really pissed me off & made me not want to spend ANY $ to read the next not cheap book in the series -not being sure I won’t be treated the same way.

I also felt there was nothing resolved in this partial book. Too many tid-bits of info things thrown out, too many things that made it sound like it can’t work between human & shark shifters physically or emotionally, too many questions on both main characters’ sides, to end this with NO information filled in, no answers given, no resolution to any problems no indication of any either. I felt I wasted my time reading this novella. It said 174 pages in , but only took me 3 1/2 hours to read.

**Spoiler**
Barbs on his dick, seriously, leaving it at that without filling in more info, that’s a BIG NO (as I squeeze my legs together- like a guy blocking his junk at the thought of being hit in the junk). All shifter books I’ve read seem to lead to biting during sex. The thought of being bitten by a SHARK shifter during sex is totally terrifying to me, it did not sound like love bites either when he did it & this was while trying to control himself! Also, I don’t know what the author was thinking, but if his cum is toxic poison to be swallowed by humans, for him to even let Monroe go down on him AT ALL - due to pre-cum, how thoughtless! He should have told her that without letting it get to that point, otherwise he’s just a reckless jerk risking her life.
SPOILRT ALERT CLIFF HANGER AND LESS THAN STELLAR PLOT AS WELL

Not a fan of this story. It has some serious issues. First and foremost it is not a believable genre for the shifter series. I am sorry but I have a problem with sharks as general rule as a human/shifter combo for me it's a total bust. The author hinted as several problems with this shifter type but than fail to elaborate upon them. She just throw it out and moves on leaving the reader hung out. Like their sperm is leathal if swallowed and they have barbs on the penis. I mean come on. So how do they have sex with a human and how could it possibly be good enough to make them want to come back for more. NOT.

Victoria the human meets the shark Koenraad and they have what is supposed to be a one night stand. Then he asks her stay and the go at it. THE END. Now ask you does that sound like something you want to spend money for. NOT

I think the author needs to rethink this and making it a cliff hanger type of story is a total bust. There was little action and even less detail to this story. More a wham bam thank you mame type.
